Mankind has been fascinated by betting for a very long time. There is evidence the dice are formed from bones going back 6,000 years! Who knows how long it will be before humans want to see the likelihood of what they think will or may not happen?
Today we use the casino to check those odds. Or we go to the racetrack. Or we play cards with our friends. Or we bet online visit LagaPoker. Or we go to the sports book and make a bet.
It’s all about seeing the possibility that something will or won’t happen. Of course there are prizes for correctly guessing or projecting. So you put both pieces together – the chances of something happening and the rewards for when it does or doesn’t happen. Look, you have a gamble! Or games or whatever we choose to call it.
We’re still playing games with devices we can hold, see, touch, feel, etc. Electronic devices will not work!
Of course, we collected those sets – artifacts, relics, bits of clay, scraps of plastic, scraps of paper – to show that we had gambled. We want to show what the history of gambling is. We want to stick to bits and pieces of history to our own satisfaction to prove we were there, that we did and that is something we want to do.
Born out of that desire, which is almost a need, is the collector. You name it, if it has to do with gambling, we will collect, preserve and talk about it; meet other people who collect, buy and sell them, and are generally immersed in small pieces of history.
On Wednesday, June 22nd, the World’s Largest Casino Show will take place at the South Point Hotel, Spa & Casino. Literally every item that has ever been associated with gambling will be put on display and for sale. You can see them in showrooms, hear them at seminars and see some that are reproduced here.
